Or should I say is trying to build.... my name is Jac Yates.

I started my design and colour education in London at Digby Stuart College and then graduated from the Parson's School of Design in New York followed by Sydney's International School of Colour and Design.

Having lived between London, New York and Sydney - currently residing in Melbourne - I have been fortunate to experience and surround myself with a variety of design situations, challenges and architectural styles..

Recently, we bought an ugly, hideous (as you can see from the pics) knock-down, however this house is on a great block of land which I will develop in to a family home in Kew, Victoria.

Excited and passionate at the opportunity of combining my two loves - designing a home and fitting it out, I jumped head first in to the project.

Architecturally, we want to build something that is environmentally friendly, while at the same time, modern and most of all functional for a family that will withstand the test of time.

Working together with a local architect as well as aiming beyond a 6-star environmental rating has its challenges but then comes ... the council.

Have you ever had to deal with the red tape of a local council?

I thought I had until now ....

While I design and project manage this build, I am going to share the highs and lows, the frustrations and satisfying wins with you.

I hope you can share my journey and I can enlighten you while I create my home.
